MISSION STATEMENT
Pilgrim Mission Center is dedicated to the empowerment of local communities of New Jersey through volunteer commitments and family oriented services, and to the enrichment of their lives by cultural programs and essential education in the spirit of love and servant leadership.
OBJECTIVES
  1. Developing vital services for the social, economic, and cultural needs of local communities.
  2. 2. Operating caring programs for the needed children, youth, and seniors.
  3. Educating and training volunteers with the knowledge and skills of servant leadership.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Pilgrim Mission Center is governed by a Board of Directors who oversee operations, a Board of Financial Sponsors and Directors of Department who supervise four sectors of team ministries.

Hackensack Homeless Ministry
The Hackensack Homeless Ministry began in Christmas of 2003 when Pilgrim Church joined with IRF (Inter-Religious Fellowship for the Homeless of Bergen County) to serve dinner. Since then, Pilgrim has continued to serve every year for the past six years at the Hackensack Orchard Street location.

Harlem Homeless Ministry
The Harlem Homeless Ministry began five years ago when Pilgrim joined with Peniel Ministry headed by Missionary Myoung Hee Kim to help feed the Homeless in the Harlem area. Pilgrim’s Harlem Homeless Ministry serves on the second Tuesday of every other month to provide and serve lunch.

Schedule: 4 Times throughout the Year
When: March, June, September, December – Second Tuesday of the month, 12pm-2pm
Where: Soul Saving Station 124th Street and Fredrick St. NYC
Travel & Departure: Transportation for Harlem Homeless Ministry will leave at 11AM at Pilgrim Mission Center.

Disabled Persons Ministry
The Disabled Persons Ministry is geared for senior citizens who are physically and mentally unable to care for themselves in their homes and communities. The Disabled Persons Ministry focuses on providing care for members of the Korean-American Senior Citizen community who lack certain faculties to take part in American society because of various cultural barriers. Our goal is to provide holistic care through relationship building visitations to nursing facilities/homes and create vocational programs where the elderly can become part of the community again.

The Disabled Persons Ministry meets every Sunday at 2:30pm at a Long Term Care Center to provide a time of Worship and Fellowship.

The Disabled Persons Ministry is grounded in the act of love and compassion. Members of the team
volunteer every year at American Wheat Mission in NJ – an organization for the disabled in NJ – through service and financial support.

Relief Ministry
The Relief Ministry at Pilgrim Mission Center strives to help those who are experiencing difficulties in and around the community. The Relief Ministry program responds to the requests by those in need, and depending on the need, they are connected to the appropriate community groups that can provide the necessary care/support. The Relief Ministry at PMC annually sponsors the organization Food in Action, one of its network organizations.

Community Information Ministry
The goal of the Community Information Ministry is to help recent immigrants adapt to a new life style in the United States. In particular, simple home repair is provided for the elderly who cannot do it on their own. Assistance is provided upon requests that are submitted to the Community Information Ministry.

Hackensack River Keeper Ministry
Every year, Pilgrim Mission Center joins New Jersey’s environmental group, Hackensack River Keeper (HRK) to take care of the local community. This year’s events will take place on April 19th at Overpeck Park and April 26th at H.B. George Park. Volunteers will be asked to pick up garbage along the riverbank and paths as well as cleaning the refuse in the river via boats that are provided by the HRK. Free lunch and drinks will be provided to all volunteers.

Community Relations Ministry
The Community Relations Ministry works in conjunction with community groups that have available resources for individual and community support.

Angel Tree Ministry
The Angel Tree Ministry this year is to be operated by the Pilgrim Mission Center. The mission of Angel Tree is to provide Christmas presents to the children of inmates in our communities. With the donations of Pilgrim Church’s congregants, Angel Tree Ministry team members will distribute gifts to families that are signed in to the program. Angel Tree Ministry operates every December.

Paterson Homeless Ministry
In conjunction with Hana Mission (headed by Pastor Hank Kim), the members of Paterson Homeless Ministry at Pilgrim Church serves more than one hundred homeless and infirm in the Paterson area.

Sports Ministry
For the purpose of fellowship and evangelism through sports. The Sports Ministry offers a variety of programs: seasonal table tennis, basketball, worship dance, badminton, tennis, soccer and golf.

Music Ministry
The Music Ministry strives to connect the family and community through music. Through music classes and practices, members of the ministry will have the twofold goal of pursuing musical excellence and utilizing music as a form of evangelism. The team will perform throughout the year.

Culture Ministry
Classes will be conducted from the second half of this year with topics covering Western culture, flower arrangement and others in the form of class lessons and cultural activities. Classes will take place every Saturday.

Family Counseling Ministry
The Family Counseling Ministry offers seminars and workshops and provides individual and group counseling to help Christian families. Assistance is provided upon request by person(s)/families in need.

Life After Retirement Ministry
The Life After Retirement Ministry offers practical help to the elderly who are not self-sufficient through a variety of programs. Community connections will be forged to strengthen the relationship between the elderly and the young generation. The purpose is to provide the elderly with social and economical tool/skills to meet their daily needs.

Youth Leadership Ministry
The purpose of Youth Leadership Ministry is to raise up Korean-American youth leaders in the local Palisades Park area through Christian counseling. In order to make a great impact within this community, the Youth Leadership Ministry is developing a range of support networks and resources to cater to the needs of this generation.

Single Mother’s Ministry
To provide a community for single mothers to share in life experiences through seminars and individual/group counseling.

Pilgrim Korean School Ministry
Pilgrim Korean School is part of Pilgrim Mission Center’s Christian Education department that is geared for the education of elementary, junior high and senior high school aged students in the study of the Korean language and Korean history and culture. The purpose is to create an understanding of Korean culture through education of the arts, music and performing arts so that Korean-American children are equipped with the necessary knowledge of their ethnic background and heritage.

Baby/Toddler School
The Baby/Toddler School at Pilgrim Mission Center aims to provide Christian education through activities and lessons so that the child may grow in Christian Faith. The Pilgrim Baby/Toddler School operates in the love Christ so that the child may grow to imitate Christ in his/her life.

English Class Ministry
The English Class Ministry is designed to help new immigrants adapt to a new life in the United States linguistically and culturally. Through the means of teaching English, the purpose of the ministry is to welcome them into a new community with love.

In order to impact the Korean-American Youth Community in the greater NJ area, the Youth Leadership Ministry is in the process of developing a range of support and human resources, specific to the needs of children and adolescents.

Computer Class Ministry
The Computer Class is geared for those who desire to learn how to use a computer for word processing, data gathering and internet activities. This ministry hopes that technological knowledge will enhance their lives with convenience.

Scholarship Ministry
The Pilgrim Scholarship Ministry was instated to minister to and nurture those inside and outside NJ areas. A Scholarship fund is at hand for the Scholarship Ministry members to award those who show academic excellence and those who have financial needs to pursue academia. This year’s deadline for scholarships is June 14th, where 10-12 students will be awarded Pilgrim Scholarships.
